Supporting Jurors
Jurors are encouraged to speak to mental health services if they are distressed by a trial and need support.
The Jury Officer's Role
They are appointed to manage all jury members, keeping you informed and safe during your service. If you're struggling to process the things you've seen and heard, they have a duty of care to you, so why not approach them?
Get Talking
Between Jurors
Starting a conversation with fellow jurors can provide a valuable opportunity to decompress and support each other. Engaging in small talk can be particularly beneficial, allowing you to relax and be yourself. Remember, you don't have to isolate yourself when you're not in the courtroom; connecting with others can help alleviate stress and build trust.
Jury Officer & Court Staff
They love a chat, you know? They'll have your back. If you need some time to talk, just say, "Can we talk?"
Remember: you must not discuss an active trial outside of deliberation. You can however, talk about how it's making you feel.
Example: "It's hard sitting listening to evidence about sexual assault. It brings up things i don't want to think of or feel again..."
