Know the Signs?
People often show signs they are experiencing suicidal thoughts, but if you don't know what to look out for, they go unnoticed.
Expressing a desire to die or end their life, either explicitly or indirectly.
Talking about feeling hopeless, trapped, or as if they're a burden to others.
Withdrawing from friends, family, and social activities.
Changes in sleep patterns (either sleeping too much or too little).
Extreme mood swings, particularly if they suddenly become calmer after a period of severe depression.
Giving away possessions or money or making arrangements, such as writing a will.
Engaging in reckless or self-destructive behaviours, such as increased substance or alcohol abuse.
Sudden improvement in mood after a period of depression (sometimes indicating they've made a decision to end their life).
Writing or talking about death, dying, or suicide more frequently.
Some people may show no signs whatsoever, especially if they spend a lot of time alone, withdrawing themselves from others.
